Welcome to Freedom Neighborhood One.org
A "Weed and Seed" Initiative

Our History

The group of diverse parties began to assemble in 2003 to work collaboratively and comprehensively on improving the community. The group had a series of brainstorming and deliberation sessions about the strengths and challenges of the neighborhoods.

Ultimately, these conversations resulted in a strategic plan. The plan was forwarded to the national office of Weed & Seed along with an application for official recognition. When filing the application, the coalition named itself Freedom Neighborhood One. In March of 2004, the national office approved the application, making Freedom Neighborhood One eligible for federal funds for up to five years.
